Where: See location information below
When: Monday, December 2, 2024

After years of planning, fundraising, grant writing and construction, three new blueway landings in Sevierville are now open to the public. The blueway project was first presented as part of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan approved by the Sevierville Mayor and Board of Alderman in October 2018.

Located on the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River, the blueway landings are designed to provide safe, ADA compatible access for kayakers, anglers, and small boat users as the river runs through Downtown Sevierville.

The three new blueway landings are:
• Coller Drive landing, located under the Collier Drive bridge;
• Charles D. Blalock landing at City Park;
• Koester-Bozeman Family landing at Hardin Lane.

Once completed, the project will be called “the Rivers and Ridges Experience,” and consist of five blueway landings, providing new recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

Since 2020, City staff worked with the Parks and Recreation Foundation to raise funds from the private sector and received two grants from the State of Tennessee. The City then provided matching funds to allow the blueway landings project to proceed.

This project is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee. For additional information, please contact the Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department at 865-453-5441.
