The Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department has received a Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association Four Star Award for the new dedicated pickleball courts located at Sevierville City Park.
The award was presented at the annual TRPA conference last week in Memphis, Tennessee. The award was open to all Tennessee cities, regardless of size. Sevierville’s award was for a new recreation project with a total cost under $500,000.00. The dedicated pickleball court project cost was $275,000.00.
“Our community has embraced pickleball and this award illustrates Sevierville’s commitment to this growing sport,” said Parks and Recreation Director Bob Parker.
The project was completed in April 2023 and consists of four dedicated pickleball courts, two on-court shade structures for players to use between matches, a chilled water fountain, a large bulletin board for league and tournament information, and a large shade structure with bleachers outside of the courts for spectators and those waiting to play. Sevierville Parks and Recreation staff added extensive landscaping around the courts.
There are currently 12 pickleball courts at Sevierville City Park; four dedicated courts and eight shared pickleball/tennis courts.
