Police Continue to Investigate Double Shooting

Posted 07-23-18.

Detectives are asking that anyone with information regarding the double shooting that resulted in one death on Friday, July 20, to please contact Detective Graham Brantley (865-868-1748). The shooting occurred at the Hampton Inn, 681 Winfield Dunn Parkway (Highway 66) at about 11:41PM.

The SPD does not believe that the public is in any danger.

Sevierville Police Department officers responded to a 911 call from a passerby yesterday evening, Friday, July 20, 2018 at approximately 11:41PM. A motorist at the Hampton Inn, 681 Winfield Dunn Parkway (Highway 66), reported that a man in the parking lot appeared to be having a medical problem and had unsuccessfully attempted to enter their vehicle.

The first officer to arrive found an adult male in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The officer also discovered another adult male in a nearby truck with a gunshot wound to his head. The male with the head injury was later pronounced dead at LeConte Medical Center. The other man was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. His condition is not known this morning.

It appears that both men were from Alabama. The SPD believes that the public is not in danger. The investigation is ongoing and the names of the two men will be released soon.

The names of the two adult males involved in the shooting yesterday evening at the Hampton Inn on Highway 66 are being released.

Jamie Scott Barron, 27 years old from Gadsden, Alabama was pronounced dead at LeConte Medical Center.
James Douglas Moyer, 28 years old from Piedmont, Alabama is currently at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
