Sevierville Parks and Recreation Plans Next Smoky Mountains Hike

The Sevierville Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a hike of Smokemont Loop in Smokemont Campground on Tuesday, October 7. This guided hike is FREE and limited to ten participants. Participants must be at least 18-years old and provide their own transportation to a meeting location. Meeting time and location will be provided after registration.


This loop hike offers a quiet trail from pine wood to a hardwood forest of poplar, hickory, and oak, with creek views, the old Bradley Cemetery, and the old Luftee, aka Smokemont Baptist Church. After the hike, we will travel three miles to the Oconaluftee Visitor’s Center to view the elk.

The registration deadline is Saturday, October 4, at 5:00 p.m. After registration is full, a waiting list will be started. Liability release and medical forms are available online and must be filled out and returned to the Community Center front desk by Saturday, October 4.
