SPD, SFD respond to emergency at resort indoor pool

The Sevierville Police Department, Sevierville Fire Department, and Sevier County Ambulance Service responded to the Resort at Governor’s Crossing, 225 Collier Drive, at approximately 12:24 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Thursday, August 28, 2025, in regard to an emergency at the indoor pool.

An on-duty lifeguard had reportedly fallen into the pool and was unresponsive. Lifesaving efforts were ongoing when emergency personnel arrived. The lifeguard, identified as 21-year old Colden Riner, was transported to LeConte Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be performed.
