BURN BAN issued for Sevierville and the cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Pittman Center, and Sevier County until further notice

Posted 03-04-25.

Due to current dry conditions, exceptionally low relative humidity and a very high fire danger, Sevier County and the cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Town of Pittman Center, and Sevierville have issued a burn ban until further notice. These conditions have created circumstances where open burning is too hazardous.

Any outdoor burning is prohibited with this ban, which includes burning in barrels, outdoor wood burning fire pits, and charcoal grills. Gas grills and gas fire pits are still permitted. This ban on open burning will be in effect until further notice.

Sevier County is under a Red Flag Warning, which was issued by the National Weather Service in Morristown, until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4. A Red Flag Warning is issued when the conditions become favorable for rapid fire growth if a fire was to ignite. Due to this elevated risk, burn permits are not being issued, and individuals are asked to refrain from any activity which could start a brush fire.
