Sevierville names Dustin Smith as new City Administrator

The City of Sevierville has named Dustin Smith as their new City Administrator. Mr. Smith was sworn-in yesterday evening, January 6, 2025, during the Sevierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting. Long time City Administrator Russell Treadway retired on January 3.

“I am pleased to welcome Mr. Dustin L. Smith as our new Sevierville City Administrator,” said Sevierville Mayor Robbie Fox. “Since being appointed as the Deputy City Administrator in January 2023, Dustin has proven that he is the right choice to manage and oversee the daily operations of our city. His education and experience in municipal planning and administration, along with his understanding of the needs of our citizens and the priorities of Sevierville, have prepared him well for this important leadership position.”

Dustin has been with the City of Sevierville since 2015, serving in various capacities and gaining extensive experience in Sevierville’s government operations. Most recently, he held the role of Deputy City Administrator before being appointed as City Administrator.

“I’m truly honored to have been given this opportunity of a lifetime,” Mr. Smith said. “I’m looking forward to working and growing with an incredible group of coworkers, preserving our community as a great place to live and work, and continuing to enhance the economic livelihood of our area. I’m committed to building upon the strong foundation established by Mr. Treadway, to ensure continued success for Sevierville and its citizens.”

During his time in Sevierville, Dustin has been instrumental in advancing and implementing key initiatives, including business recruitment and development, cutting edge technologies, a comprehensive wayfinding program, attainable housing initiatives, and multiple ordinance amendments balancing an effort to foster a business-friendly environment while supporting local needs and culture, amongst others. His efforts reflect a steadfast commitment to Sevierville’s growth, prosperity, and resiliency.

Dustin Smith was born and raised in Johnson City, Tennessee. He attended East Tennessee State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in City Management. These academic achievements laid the foundation for his dedicated career in public service and municipal leadership.
