SPD Officer Receives THSO Child Passenger Safety Award

City of Sevierville Police Department Lieutenant Rebecca Cowan has received a 2024 Child Passenger Safety award from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.

The award recognizes Lieutenant Cowan’s child passenger safety initiatives, including teaching child passenger safety seat technician certification classes, organizing child passenger safety seat events and performing safety seat inspections and installations. In 2023, Lieutenant Cowan was also recognized by THSO as the Child Passenger Safety Instructor of the Year.

“Lieutenant Cowan’s passion for the safety of child car passengers is amazing,” said SPD Chief Joseph Manning. “Her relentless efforts to protect children from being injured in car crashes is an inspiration to all of us in law enforcement. Our department and community are fortunate to have her as a law enforcement supervisor.”
