Bank robbery suspect apprehended at scene

At approximately 4:49 p.m. yesterday, October 1, 2024, Sevierville Police Department officers responded to a reported bank robbery in progress at Tennessee State Bank, 161 Forks of the River Parkway.

As officers arrived, the robbery suspect was exiting the bank with a bag of money. The suspect, 35-year old Joshua Watson of Sevierville, was immediately apprehended and taken into custody without resistance. Mr. Watson allegedly entered the bank and demanded money from a teller, who complied. No injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
