Citizens Police Academy Registration Open-First class on September 19, 2024

The Sevierville Police Department is proud to announce open registration for the annual Citizens Police Academy. The academy provides an opportunity for adult residents to learn about basic police work and to get acquainted with the officers protecting and serving our community. The registration deadline is Friday, September 13 at 5:00 p.m.
The academy will meet from 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings, September 19 - November 21, 2024. The program is free and open to qualified applicants. Curriculum for the program will consist of 27-hours of classroom and field instruction. Topics will include patrol methods, investigations, vehicle stops, defense techniques, D.U.I. interdiction, Taser, community policing programs, and introduction to police firearms.
“The Citizens Police Academy is a great opportunity for citizens to interact with police officers, learn what is involved in police work and experience what it is like to be an officer,” said Chief Joseph Manning.
Applications are available at the Sevierville Police Department, 300 Gary Wade Boulevard. Applicants must complete all Citizen Police Academy registration forms and return them to the Sevierville Police Department by 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 13. Enrollment is limited to the first twenty applicants, 18-years of age and older. Confirmation of registration will be made following a thorough background investigation.
