The Sevierville Fire Department is offering several CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed classes in 2024 at the Headquarters, Station 1, 1162 Dolly Parton Parkway. In these classroom-based courses, participants will learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and how they can control severe bleeding to possibly save themselves and others.

Classes are open to the public and begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. The class fee is $25.00/person (checks payable to the City of Sevierville), which includes all class materials and a certificate. SFD will have CPR pocket mask/barrier devices available for an additional $15.00 (highly recommended).

Classes are scheduled on the following dates in 2024:
Saturday, August 10
Saturday, November 16

Each class is limited to twenty persons. To ensure a spot please register and pay in advance. To register, call 865-453-9276 or visit the Fire Department at 1162 Dolly Parton Parkway (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.).
SFD offers this class to educate providers, caregivers, and the general public on how to respond to certain emergencies.

If you are unable to attend a classroom-based CPR course, CPR Anytime is an excellent way to learn the core skills of CPR at home. CPR Anytime kits are available for purchase online and contain everything you need to learn the lifesaving skills of CPR, AED awareness, and choking relief in about 20 minutes in the safety and comfort of your own home. CPR Anytime is for anyone who wants to learn basic lifesaving resuscitation skills and does not need a course completion card to meet a job requirement.
There are two CPR Anytime kits available; Infant CPR Anytime or Adult & Child CPR Anytime ($38.50 each). Information on these kits is available at https://cpr.heart.org/en/cpr-courses-and-kits/cpr-anytime.

And for those not interested in the CPR Anytime program, but still want to know the most basic skills of CPR, the American Heart Association Hands Only CPR Video is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4ACYp75mjU.

Also, one more video that covers the two steps to Hands-Only CPR in a more “fun” approach is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk53b_eweyk.
