Sevierville Police Department Recognizes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

Posted 04-13-20.

The following is a message from Sevierville Police Chief Joseph Manning.

I’d like to take this opportunity to recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. During this week, police, fire, sheriff's offices, E-911 centers and more are celebrating the strength and commitment of their public safety dispatchers.

Please join the Sevierville Police Department in honoring our law enforcement dispatchers who serve as a vital lifeline between those in need and our law enforcement officers. Our dispatchers answer your calls 24/7, whenever there is a need or emergency. They work hard to communicate vital information to our officers in the field to help save lives.

Everyday, hundreds of people in our city depend on the expertise and commitment of the dispatchers who work in our dispatch center. These men and women handle emergency telephone calls, dispatch our officers, and provide support to people in distress.

This year is especially demanding due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this unprecedented health emergency, law enforcement protocols have been changing almost on a daily basis, and our dispatchers must have the knowledge and ability to adjust.

This week, let’s thank the dedicated men and women who serve in this critical role within our agency and for the sacrifices they are making for our community and officers.
