Police Investigate High School Break-In and Vandalism

Sevierville Police Department officers and detectives are investigating a break-in and vandalism that occurred early this morning at Sevier County High School, 1200 Dolly Parton Parkway.

Officers responded to an alarm at the school just after 5:00AM this morning, Monday, February 23, 2015. No one was found on the school premises when the first officers arrived.

According to SPD Detective Ray Brown, entrance was made into the main school building through a window at the back of the school. Significant vandalism was found throughout the building, including broken office windows and display cases; damaged cafeteria equipment; and smashed computers and DVD players. A large bear statue in the front lobby was knocked-off a pedestal and damaged. In the gymnasium, the boys locker room was vandalized, cans of paint were emptied onto the basketball court and weights from weight training equipment were thrown onto the floor. Several video surveillance cameras were also destroyed.

The initial investigation does not indicate anything was stolen.
