Construction & Flood Hazard
To mitigate and manage potential flood property losses due to flood damage, the City of Sevierville is a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program. As a participant in the program, the City is required to create and enforce certain regulations in accordance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Both new and existing construction in a flood hazard area are subject to established requirements. For example, all new construction and additions to existing structures must have the floor elevated to a minimum height depending on a particular flood zone or location. The finish floor height must be determined by a professional surveyor or engineer prior to the issuance of any building permits. If an applicant is unsure if a property is in a flood hazard area, please contact the Department of Code Enforcement.
