City Seeks Volunteers to Assist with Zoning Ordinance Review

The City of Sevierville Planning and Development Department is currently conducting a comprehensive review of City zoning ordinances.

The review process began this summer when several public meetings were held with guidance from the Orion Planning Group, a professional consulting company.

The purpose of the review is to ultimately provide the City with recommended zoning ordinance changes. The City wants to ensure zoning ordinances are keeping up with changes in common development practices and desirable land use guidelines, and ensure efficient processes for residents, property owners and developers.

To meet this goal, the City is seeking resident volunteers to meet and discuss their visions and concerns. Between six-eight public meetings will be held from October 2015 to April 2016.

“An important element of the review process is the inclusion of resident volunteers,” said Planning and Development Director Pamela Caskie. “It’s vital that we engage with residents who are willing to provide input to City and Orion staff regarding how they want their neighborhood and the City as a whole to look in the future.”

A meeting to organize volunteers and a presentation of the review process to date, is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2105 at the Sevierville Convention Center from 4:30PM-6:00PM. Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
