The City of Sevierville Fire Department is looking to expand our community outreach and to create an opportunity for a potential career path for those looking to become a firefighter through our Firefighter Recruitment Program. We are seeking promising, interested candidates to be considered for up to five (5) Firefighter Recruit positions this year. The Firefighter Recruit will be enrolled in a 12-week Basic Firefighting Recruit Academy where they will participate in intensive classroom and field training in the theories, techniques, methods and procedures used in firefighting and rescue work. Cost of training and equipment will be covered by the City, but no pay or stipend is provided. Classes begin October and will run through January 2020. The Firefighter Recruit will also be required to complete up to 16 hours a month in our Firefighter Recruitment Program where the firefighter recruit will spend time learning the daily duties, responsibilities of Sevierville’s firefighters including responding to calls with them as an observer.
The Fire Department is charged with the protection of and/or the minimization of any impact to our citizens, visitors, and environment from the results of uncontrolled fire and/or disasters, either natural or man-made.
In addition to the traditional duties of fire suppression, fire prevention and public education, we also provide plans review, codes enforcement and inspections. We provide the community with a Tennessee Department of Health approved Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) responder program which operates under the authority of the Sevier County Emergency Medical Director.
The Sevierville Fire Department's ISO rating is 3/3X/10 which places the Fire Department in the top 3% of communities nationwide* and the top 3% in Tennessee*.
A permit is required for open burning in accordance with Section 7-102 of the Sevierville Municipal Code. All open burning sites must be inspected prior to burning. Permits are granted with the conditions as listed.
Permits are available Monday through Friday between 8-5.
