FREE SPD Child Car Safety Seat Check Scheduled 6-26-21

The Sevierville Police Department is conducting a FREE child car safety seat inspection event this Saturday, June 26 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Dairy Queen, 1179 Dolly Parton Parkway.

A certified SPD technician will perform the free safety check and answer any questions you may have. The City of Sevierville is committed to helping parents and caregivers make sure their children ride as safely as possible - every trip, every time.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Road Repaving Planned for Tomorrow at Two Locations

Contractors working for the City of Sevierville will be milling and paving at two locations tomorrow, Wednesday, June 23.

Beginning at approximately 7:00 a.m., work will begin on Industrial Drive. This project will require the temporary closure of the right travel lane on Dolly Parton Parkway, just before and after the intersection with Industrial Drive. Work is expected to be completed by 12:00 p.m. Traffic will be maintained however motorists should expect short term delays on Industrial Drive and Dolly Parton Parkway in this area.

When the Industrial Drive project is completed, contractors will begin work on the Middle Creek Road/Ernest McMahan Road intersection. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the day. Traffic will be maintained however motorists should expect delays which could be lengthy during heavy traffic periods. It is recommended that motorists avoid this area and choose an alternate route if possible.

City of Sevierville Reminds Residents/Visitors That Shooting Fireworks Is Not Permitted

With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, the City of Sevierville would like to remind residents and visitors that shooting fireworks without a permit is not permitted within the City limits. This ordinance is in effect throughout the year.

Sevierville Fire Chief Matt Henderson and Police Chief Joe Manning say that while they want residents and visitors to enjoy the holiday, they hope it will be celebrated in a safe manner. They note that fireworks are banned in the City because of the potential dangers of personal injury and fires.

Police Urge Parents and Pet Owners to be Cognizant of Dangers of Hot Vehicle Interiors

The Sevierville Police Department (SPD) is urging parents and pet owners to be cognizant of the potential danger of leaving their children or pets in vehicles during warm weather.

Just a few minutes inside a car during the summer can become deadly. When the outside air temperature is just 85 degrees, vehicle interior temperatures can reach over 100 degrees in only ten minutes or less.

In Tennessee, it is legal to break a window if you see a child or pet in distress inside a locked vehicle. You must call 911 to inform authorities about the incident. Steps must be taken to ensure the car is locked, that the child or animal is in imminent danger of suffering harm if not immediately removed and notifying law enforcement.

In the United States, serious injuries and deaths to children and pets are reported every summer. Children should NEVER be left alone in an unattended vehicle for any length of time. notes that on average, 37 children die each year from heat-related injuries while trapped inside a vehicle. Traffic Advisory: Temporary Road Closure for Memorial Day Event

A section of Court Avenue in front of the Sevier County Courthouse will be temporarily closed to all traffic on Monday, May 31 to facilitate a Memorial Day event being conducted by Sevier County government.

Court Avenue, between Commerce Street and Bruce Street, will be closed from approximately 10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
