The City of Sevierville has been notified by the Tennessee Department of Transportation of ongoing road work along the State Route 416 corridor, including the portion of the route inside the City.

The Sevierville Department of Public Works will begin a significant road project on a section of Old Knoxville Highway beginning Monday, July 8. The project will necessitate several weeks of lane closures and one week of a complete closure (see schedule below).

The Sevierville Police Department has scheduled a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) class for women on Friday, July 26 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Sevierville Police Department, 300 Gary Wade Boulevard. The class is free of charge and is open to all interested women. The purpose of the class is to develop and enhance self-defense options, so they may become viable considerations to a woman if she is attacked.

With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, the City of Sevierville would like to remind residents and visitors that shooting fireworks without a permit is prohibited within the City limits. This ordinance is in effect throughout the year.
Sevierville Fire Chief Matt Henderson and Police Chief Joe Manning say that while they want residents and visitors to enjoy the holiday, they hope it will be celebrated in a safe manner. They note that fireworks are banned in the City because of the potential dangers of personal injury and fires.
