Phase II of Sevierville wayfinding program set to begin
Posted 05-24-24.
Beginning Tuesday, May 28, contractors will commence foundation work for Phase II of Sevierville’s comprehensive wayfinding program. Installation crews will be operating in various locations throughout the City, with work divided into designated zones (see attached plans). Phase II involves the installation of 65 new wayfinding signs.
During the week of May 27, the foundation work will be focused in the areas outlined in Plan 1 and Plan 2. Beginning in June, crews will continue work in the areas designated as Plan 4 and Plan 5. Finally, efforts will shift to the area shown in Plan 3, which encompasses the downtown area.
Please be aware that this work may result in intermittent temporary lane closures, most notably during work in the downtown area (Plan 3). Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions, including scheduling work during non-peak traffic periods when possible. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance our city's wayfinding system.
The installation of the actual wayfinding signage is scheduled to begin in mid to late June, following a similar phased approach.
The purpose of the wayfinding project is to establish Sevierville as its own destination, creating a sense of place throughout the entire City, and assisting visitors and local residents to their destinations, while also creating an aesthetically pleasing design which encompasses Sevierville’s natural resources of rivers and mountains.
The City wayfinding program includes signs for welcoming at the City limits, the municipal campus, historic landmarks, and the greenway system, providing citizens and visitors consistent signage whether they are driving, walking, running, or riding a bicycle in Sevierville.
