Sevierville Participates in DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day 2023

Posted 04-10-23.

On Saturday, April 22 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., the Sevierville Police Department, along with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Pigeon Forge Police Department, and Gatlinburg Police Department, will hold a Drug Take Back event as part of the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The SPD event will be at the Walmart Neighborhood Market, 1185 Dolly Parton Parkway (see flyer for additional local event locations).

In addition to dropping-off drugs at this event, citizens may drop-off drugs at the SPD Drug Take Back receptacle any time or day of the week. The service is free and anonymous.

Unneeded prescription medication–those that are old, unwanted, or no longer needed – are a public safety issue, too often becoming a gateway to addiction. The majority of opioid addictions start with prescription pills found in medicine cabinets at home.

Pharmaceutical drugs can be just as dangerous as street drugs when taken without a prescription or a doctor’s supervision. A majority of people who misuse a prescription medication obtain the medicine from a family member or friend.
