SPD FREE Child Car Safety Seat Check Scheduled at Dairy Queen During Child Passenger Safety Week

As part of National Child Passenger Safety Week, the Sevierville Police Department is conducting a FREE child car safety seat inspection event on Saturday, September 25 from11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Dairy Queen, 1179 Dolly Parton Parkway.

 

CPS Week is September 19-25, culminating with National Seat Check Saturday on September 25. Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children. On average, two children under 13 were killed and an estimated 374 were injured every day in 2019 while riding in cars, SUVs, pickups, and vans.
• 608 child passenger vehicle occupants died in traffic crashes in 2019.
• 38% of children who died in 2019 while riding in passenger vehicles were unrestrained, compared to 33% in 2018.

SPD will be providing child safety seat tips and information for parents and caregivers next week on their Facebook page @SeviervillePoliceDepartment.

At the child car safety seat inspection on September 25, certified SPD technicians will perform free safety checks and answer any questions. The City of Sevierville is committed to helping parents and caregivers make sure their children ride as safely as possible - every trip, every time.
