Do you qualify for free smoke/carbon monoxide alarms?

The City of Sevierville is proud to offer combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms at no cost to qualifying City of Sevierville residents. This program is funded by a Consumer Product Safety Commission grant and is designed to support low-income individuals and families across the city who cannot afford to purchase alarms to protect their homes. Provided alarms are wireless, with a 10-year lithium ion battery and have interconnecting capabilities. Units will be installed in your home by fire department staff.

If you fit this criteria you may qualify for smoke/CO alarms:

  1. You are within the Sevierville city limits.
    • You can verify your address here. If you are not within the city limits please reach out to your local jurisdiction.
  2. You own and reside in your home.
    • Tennesee state law requires landlords to provide adequate smoke and CO alarms in all rental units.
  3. Your home is not new construction.
  4. Your home does not have any alarms OR your alarms are more than 10 years old.
  5.  Any alarms currently in your home are wireless and battery powered, NOT hardwired.
    • We are unable to remove and replace hardwired alarms as the alarms we offer are wireless and do not provide the same level of protection.

If you are the intended recipient of this program, you may request alarms via the online form or call us at 865-868-1710.

If you plan on purchasing your own alarms, but have questions regarding products and placement, department staff are happy to offer insight.
