Winter has come quickly here in East Tennessee and the holidays are right around the corner. The Sevierville Fire Department would like to share some seasonal safety tips to help you and your family this year.
Many folks will be pulling space heaters and decorations out of storage, lighting candles, and warming their cars before work. The winter months see a rise in carbon monoxide poisonings due to the increased use of heating appliances. When decorating, examine wiring for loose connections or frays and plug heating devices directly into the wall outlet. If you are shopping for tech this year, be sure you are looking for products that are UL tested to avoid a fire caused by lithium-ion batteries.
