SPD Investigates Incident at Northview Academy

At approximately 12:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Thursday, October 27, 2022, Sevierville Police Department School Resource Officers at Northview Academy (NVA) were informed of an alleged threat of gun violence made by a NVA student towards another student. Officers interviewed the student who allegedly made the threat, as well as the student who was reportedly threatened. It is our understanding that NVA administration also conducted an investigation.
Based upon the initial investigation yesterday afternoon and evening, SPD officers determined that there was no immediate cause for concern of violence towards NVA students, parents and school staff pertaining to this incident.
At this point in the investigation, SPD has no evidence that the alleged threat was or is credible. The investigation is ongoing.
