Emergency Management Coordinator - Full-time

Salary:            $47,175-$54,611        

The essential function of this position within the organization is to serve as the City of Sevierville Emergency Manager. Work includes a wide variety of administrative duties including developing, updating, training other city departments on the City’s various emergency plans (Emergency Operations, Evacuation, and Hazard Mitigation) as well as working to build disaster resiliency in the City organization and community.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSAn associate degree in fire science, emergency management, fire administration, public administration, or a closely related field is required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires four (4) years of experience in Emergency Management, Fire Services, or Law Enforcement.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS REQUIRED:

TEMA has established minimum training qualifications for local emergency management directors.

Requires certification in the following areas as directed by T.C.A. 58-2-133 within two (2) years of employment.

TEMA Training:

H 306 – Hazardous Materials Operations Level
S 715 – Damage Assessment Workshop
G-191 – ICS/EOC Interface Operations
S-775 – TN Emergency Operations Center Course

G-300 – ICS 300 Intermediate ICS
G-400 – ICS 400 Advanced ICS

FEMA Independent Study Courses:

IS 100 – Incident Command System (ICS)
IS 200 – ICS for Single Resources
IS 700 – National Incident Management System
IS 701 – Multi-Agency Coordination System (currently not available)
IS 706 – Intra-State Mutual Aid (currently not available)
IS 800 – National Response Framework

FEMA Professional Development Series:

IS 120 – An Introduction to Exercises
IS 230 – Fundamentals of Emergency Management
IS 235 – Emergency Management Planning
IS 240 – Leadership and Influence
IS 241 – Decision Making & Problem Solving
IS 242 – Effective Communication
IS 244 – Developing & Managing Volunteers

Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC) training must be taken annually.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires primarily light work exerting up to 10-15 pounds of force. Medium to heavy work involving exerting more than 100 pounds of force, is a possibility.
