GIS/ Database Technician - Full-time- $25.00 hourly

SALARY RANGE: $52,006- $57,337
SUMMARY:
The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist in the design, maintenance, and technical support for the City of Sevierville database, software, and SAS systems.  The position reports to the Software and Database Manager to assist with data conversion and maintenance, developing software, websites, and publications, training and supporting employees, hardware and data support, and coordinating special events, and special projects.  The position works under general supervision.
 
This position’s primary duties are: 

• Maintains, and supports database and data systems; performs troubleshooting as needed and corrects problems.
• Assists with software setup and support for City employees; provides support for data integrity and design.
• Maintenance and support of City GIS, SQL, MS Access, and other database systems as assigned by the Software and Database Manager.
• Interacts with staff to deliver and process data in response to inquiries, issues, and needs for software, procedures, and services.
• Produces work aids for various departments, such as PowerPoint presentations, publications, and flyers.
• Attends technical or professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve technical or professional skills.

 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires Associate’s degree or the equivalent of two years of college or specialized vocational training in computer science, geographic information systems, computer programming, or a closely related field. Requires one to two years of related experience. Knowledge of VB, Python, JAVA, and similar programming languages is a plus. Must have a valid driver's license.
