Water Plant Technician- Full-TIme- $19.45 hourly

SALARY:       $40,425

SUMMARY:

This is a skilled work in the use of specialized maintenance and construction equipment and vehicles utilized in the water and wastewater activities of the Sevierville Water Systems.  The work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of specialized electrical test equipment, electrical wiring, signal wiring for SCADA systems, repair and maintenance of piping, pumps, and appurtenances in the water plant.  Employee in this position will be required to be on call during portions of each month.  Supervision is received from the Chief Water Treatment Plant Operator.

 SUMMARY:

This position’s primary duties are:

  • Operates small cranes, electrical test meters and equipment, air operated tools, gas powered tools and equipment, hand tools, mowers with weed eaters, and ventilation equipment.
  • Maintains pumps, motors, plant equipment, SCADA telemetry, and other equipment of the water plant.
  • Works with internal and external vendors for trouble shooting and repairing equipment in the water plant.
  • May supervise and participate in the work of a small crew during the construction and installation of water plant equipment to include plumbing and electrical switch gear, trouble shoot and repair small electrical control panels.
  • Assists in building maintenance functions such as painting, electrical work, carpentry, masonry, etc. as needed.
  • Maintains all records concerning cost and inventory for the maintenance activities at the water plant.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or a GED certificate supplemented with some technical training in electrical and plumbing work and the test equipment used for work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.  Requires a valid Tennessee driver’s license.  Electrical, PLC, control wiring, and plumbing licenses or certifications preferred.  Requires at least one year of experience in a position with similar responsibilities.
