Attention All Kids: New Playground Opening Is Almost Here!

Posted June 30, 2016

The grand opening of the new all-inclusive Mt. Ton of Fun playground at Sevierville City Park is almost here! Kids, bring your parents along to be the first to play and learn at the new playground on Monday, July 17 @ 4:30PM.

City of Sevierville

The grand opening will include live music from Jimbo Whaley and Friends, a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of phases one and two, and remarks from Mayor Bryan Atchley and others.

The new playground is designed to stimulate interest, excitement and inclusive play at every turn and includes more than over 50 different interactive features offering play and learning experiences for everyone.

A public/private partnership between the City and non-profit Project Sevier will culminate in a playground designed for everyone, regardless of age or physical ability.

Six years ago, a Leadership Tomorrow group had the dream of creating a playground that would be accessible to everyone, which led to the formation of Project Sevier and ultimately a partnership with the City. Significant funding and materials have also been provided by Vulcan Materials and Blalock's Construction.

"The Blalock Companies and family feel very fortunate to have been involved in helping this dream to become a reality, which should be a great blessing to all our citizens and community for years to come, said Doug Blalock, Blalock and Sons, Inc. Corporate Secretary

"We are proud to support the City of Sevierville and Project Sevier in opening this playground for all children and their families to enjoy," said Jeff May, Vulcan Materials' vice president and general manager of East Tennessee. "Our Sevierville Quarry has been in operation for roughly 70 years, and we are committed to being a good neighbor by giving back to our community."
