Counterfeit Money Alert

The Sevierville Police Department (SPD) has received several reports over the past four days of counterfeit money being used at local businesses. Six businesses have reported that they have received counterfeit money in $10, $20 and/or $50 denominations.

The businesses have noted that counterfeit money checking pens will indicate that the money is counterfeit. The SPD recommends that businesses instruct their employees to be vigilant and check all suspect money that they receive and report any instances of counterfeit money use to the SPD or their local law enforcement agency.

The investigation is ongoing and it is requested that anyone with information on counterfeit money use or production contact the SPD at 865-453-5506.
