Man Arrested on Multiple Charges after Brief Pursuit

A Tracy City, Tennessee man was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a brief pursuit in downtown Sevierville yesterday afternoon, Monday, September 21, 2015.

According to Sevierville Police Department (SPD) Officer Bruce Belitz, 43-year old Robert F. Nunley II (booking photo attached) has been charged with felony evading arrest; felony vandalism; reckless driving; aggravated assault; vehicle theft; possession of burglary tools; and using a stolen vehicle license plate. Additional charges are pending.

Early Monday morning, September 21, 2015, an alleged burglary occurred at Lee’s Total Healthcare Pharmacy, 725 Parkway in Sevierville. The initial investigation determined that three men were involved and that they left the business in a black Land Rover. Officer Belitz observed a vehicle fitting that description at approximately 12:41PM the same day, near Main Street and North Parkway. The license plate on the vehicle was determined to be stolen. When Officer Belitz attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled into the downtown area.

The pursuit ended at approximately 12:44PM when Mr. Nunley ran into a vehicle that was stopped in a line of traffic on northbound Highway 66 near King Street. That crash resulted in two additional cars and a police patrol SUV being hit. After the crash, Mr. Nunley attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by SPD officers. Mr. Nunley was subsequently transported to the Sevier County Jail for booking.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
