Woman Arrested After Brandishing Weapon

Posted 10-17-18

Sevierville Police Department officers arrested a Georgia woman this morning after she allegedly brandished a pellet gun at the main parking lot exit at Sevier County High School, 1200 Dolly Parton Parkway.

At approximately 9:27AM this morning, Wednesday, October 17, SPD School Resource Officer Shain Burgess was notified by school staff of a suspicious person who was screaming and acting incoherently, in a black SUV parked at the main parking lot exit. Officer Burgess responded and encountered a woman standing next to the vehicle brandishing what appeared to be a small black semi-automatic handgun. After being ordered to drop the weapon, the woman complied and got into her vehicle and drove away traveling west on Dolly Parton Parkway. Officer Burgess reported that the vehicle had a Georgia license plate.

At approximately 9:50AM, SPD Officer Anna Jordan stopped a black Ford Escape SUV with a Georgia license plate near 1259 Middle Creek Road. The driver of the vehicle, 34-year old Brittany Ruth Rowe of Ellijay, Georgia was arrested without incident.

The recovered weapon is a black pellet gun that appears to be an authentic small caliber handgun.

Ms. Rowe was transported to the Sevier County Jail. She has been charged with felony criminal attempt (aggravated assault) and felony weapon on school property.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
