Police Department Schedules Rape Aggression Defense Keychain Class
The Sevierville Police Department has scheduled a 4-hour Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Keychain class for women on Saturday, October 22, 2016, from 8:00AM - 12:00PM, at the Sevierville Civic Center in the City of Sevierville Municipal Complex. The purpose of the class is to develop and enhance self-defense options for women using a keychain with a small device commonly called a kubaton.
The class is free of charge; registration is limited to the first 12 women that register (advance registration required). NOTE: to attend the keychain class, participants must have already attended the full series of the standard R.A.D. class. Participants are required to bring an empty plastic 2-gallon water jug; practice kubatons will be provided.

This R.A.D. class builds upon the basic 8-hour R.A.D. class which teaches realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. system is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a martial arts program.
The class will be taught by SPD Lt. David Finchum and Sgt. Rebecca Cowan, both nationally certified R.A.D. instructors. Each participant will receive a workbook/reference manual, which outlines the entire program for future reference and continuous personal growth.
