Sevierville Receives TDEC Greenway Grant

The City of Sevierville Department of Parks and Recreation has been awarded a $200,000.00 (two-hundred thousand) grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to extend the West Prong Greenway.

"I am very excited about this grant because it will mark the completion of the first greenway project in the City, which was initially opened in 1998," said Parks and Recreation Director Bob Parker.

The grant will be used for several purposes, including the extension of the West Prong Greenway from its current end point on the west side of the west prong of the Little Pigeon River to the Gatlinburg Highway Bridge (Hwy. 441). Additionally, the grant will fund lighting for the extension and the current greenway on the west side of the river; and an Emergency Wayfinding system for pedestrians that will include a link to the local 911 system.
