Reserve Firefighter, Part-time

Dept: Fire Department
Salary: $10.00 an hour, non-exempt

The essential function of the position within the organization is to provide protective services and treat injured persons. The position is responsible for responding to fires or other emergency situations, extinguishing fires, rescuing and providing emergency medical services to persons, daily cleaning of facilities, daily training, general building and truck maintenance, performing salvage operations and related follow-up. The position works under general supervision according to procedures.

To be eligible to apply, applicants must: 

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Not have been convicted of, or plead guilty to, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felon charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances.
  • Not have been released or discharged under anything other than an honorable discharge from any armed forces of the United States.
  •  Meet the standards for Firefighter as established by the Tennessee Commission on Firefighting. 
  • Have at least 1 year of firefighting experience with satisfactory completion of the Tennessee State Fire Academy Basic/Live Firefighting courses or equivalent.
  • Regional Training Association Recruit Academy.
  • Emergency Medical Responder. (First Responder)
  • Firefighter I certification by the TN Commission on Firefighting or Equivalent.

Successful candidates must possess and thereafter maintained throughout employment:

  •  CPR Certification.
  •  NFPA Approved Firefighter Physical.
  •  NIMS-ICS 100,200,700 and 800.
  •  Blood Borne Pathogen Certification.
  •  Self Contained Breathing Apparatus Fit Test.
  •  Emergency Medical Responder. (First Responder)
  •  Valid Tennessee Drivers License.
  •  Vehicle Extraction Certification.
  •  Hazardous Materials Operation Certification.
  •  Completion the physical agility course and department orientation class.
  •  Completion of six hours in the department’s voluntary Ride Along program.
  •  Phone and Email information.
